Speed Show Rules
We will NOT be requiring Current Negative Coggins Test for 2011 Shows - Modified March 23, 2011.
Modified Spring 2010

  1. Equine Fellowship Officers, or their representatives, decisions will be Final.
  2. Exhibitors age 17 & Under MUST wear a properly fastened, correct fit, ASTM SEI Certified Equestrian Helmet.
  3.  Exhibitors must wear a shirt with sleeves (no tank tops, spaghetti straps), long pants, and western boots (fashion heels are prohibited), or jodhpur boots. Protective equipment for the rider, such as shin guards, are permitted.
  4. The horses must have a standard western or english saddle, and a standard bit or conventional hackamore,. Running or standing martingales, tie-downs, bell boots, shin boot and/or skid boots are optional. The show sponsors may prohibit equipment or bits that they consider unsafe or severe.
  5.  The use of spurs, bats or over-and-unders is optional. Excessive or abusive use of these items may be penalized or result in disqualification.
  6. Horses can be shared by up to 2 exhibitiors and/or by a 3rd exhibitor in a novice or 12 & Under Age Group
  7. Novice class is for any exhibitor, any age. Exhibitors receive a discounted rate and can have assistance completing their patterns, such as being led or coached in the arenea. Novice exhibitors do not receive placings or points for awards. They do receive participation ribbons.
  8. Exhibition class is for 1 participant riding more than one horse. Exhibition rate is discounted and exhibition runs earn no placings or points.
  9. Sign Up Liability Release must be signed by participant, or for participants age 17 and under by a parent or legal guardian, before participating in show.
  10. MODIFIED 3/23/11 - We will NOT be reuiring that Participants certify that they have proof of a current negative Coggins test on any horse brought on grounds.

    Unsportmanlike behavior (such as arguing, yelling, and/or swearing) by contestant may result in disqualification and/or removal from the show grounds.
  12.  Unsportsmanlike behavior, (such as arguing, yelling, and/or swearing) by family members, spectators or volunteers on the show grounds may result in removal from the show grounds.
  13. Any running of horses outside the Arena or Warm Up Arena will result in:
    1. 1st Time - Warning
    2. 2nd Time - DQ from remaining events for that Show
    3. 3rd Time - Loss of ALL points for that night
  14. Grand/Reserve Ties will be broken by placings in a pre-determined event
  15. Arena will be dragged at Arena manager's discretion
  16. Please tie a red ribbon in the tail of any horse that kicks
  17. Must be 18 or older to ride a Stallion
  18. No horse allowed on the adjacent school property or any other designated area
  19. No tying horses to arenas or railings. Make sure your horse is tied SAFELY to your trailer.
  20. Children must be supervised at all times.
  21. No alcohol or illegal substances allowed on grounds
  22. Please clean up your parking area before you leave.
  23. Dogs must be on leashes and under control.
  24. Additional rules may be added during the course of this show series, depending upon situations that arise. If additional rules are added they will be announced prior to the start of a show or when a situation requires immediate attention. 
  25. Equine Fellowship reserves the right to deal with situations not specified in these rules on a case by case basis. Their decisions will be final.

 

General Event Rules

 

  1. Disqualification for Individual Events:
    1. Loss of course, which includes negotiating obstacles in other than the specified order or in the wrong direction. This includes circling, backing, or reversing the direction of movement.
    2. Horse behaving in an unruly manner or out of control.
    3. Fall of horse or rider before the completion of the event.
    4. Any kind of cruelty to the horse, whether or not specifically mentioned in these rules.
    5. Failing to start or finish a pattern between the starting markers, when applicable.
  2. Only horses for the upcoming age group are allowed in the holding area and entrance area.
  3. There will be a 5 second penalty for knocking over pattern obstacles or markers in all events.
  4. Exhibitors and their horses will not be allowed to run in or out of the arena.
  5. Horses running into the arena fence or gate may result in disqualification.
  6. We are flexible on how you get your horse in the arena, you can be led in, lead in and mount, or walk in with other horses. Safety is our priority
  7. Touching of obstacles is allowed, it will not result in a penalty.
  8. Any error on the part of the committe resulting in the need for a rerun, will result in a re-ride where the rider must give an honest attempt at a clean ride. Any 5 second penalties will be carried over to the second ride. A clean first ride will also be carried over. 

 

Event Specific Rules
Keyhole - Stepping on or beyond pattern will result in a DQ
Flag Race - The flag must be upright and stay in the bucket
Tomahawk Ball Run - The ball must stay in the barrel. (We will put sand in the bottom of the barrel to minimize bouncing out)
Keg Bending - Jumping of barrels will be considered a loss of pattern.
Arena Race - You must follow the pattern but after completing the event you can circle around and re-break the time line to slow your horse down. Hitting the fence or gate may result in disqualification.
